Amiens artists at the White Night

As part of the Phoenix experimental festival at Ocean Rooms, Playgroup host a selection of acts from the Nuit Blanche Amiens downstairs through the night:

At The Same Time (Electro / Hip Hop)

Descended from Hip Hop and Scratch, Dj Jos, from Prolifik Records label, decides in 2004 to start producing, tending more towards an Electro Trip Hop style. Considering that there’s nothing more static on stage than a Dj triggering loops, he uses a more daring concept : he replays all his tracks live, every sample and every effect, thanks to his turntables and his loopstation pedal. In this way, he intends showing the turntable as a real musical instrument. On stage, Lilju and Ziat i accompany him on the cello and the bass.

The Beyonders (Electro / Rock)

After more than a hundred shows across France, and an EP called “Maze” in 2008, the newly reformed band “theBeyonders” continues its momentum, now offering something more clearly marked by electronics. Now helped by a synthesizer, they keep on building harsh harmonies upon minimalist pop sounds.

The Name (Electro)

Formed by two musicians from the alternative french label [ikoz] in Amiens, France, this musical project, created especially for the third “Nuit Blanche “ in Amiens, got multiple references, between electronic movement and Herbie Hancock’s experimentation. A keyboards & drums duo, which is improved by the use of vintage synths, talkbox & vocoders. Between Daft Punk, Prodigy and the Digitalism’s energy.

Café Babel will host two additional French acts:

Délicieuse Alexandra (Chanson / Offbeat Cabaret)

The velvety and voluptuous singer Alexandra and he live band gives us a wry take on chanson.
Musical entertainment from burlesque cabaret and operetta bazaar to see live!

Tribal Jaze (Trash Roots & Trad)

Diatonic accordion, baritone sax and drum combine in a contemporary and high energy take on traditional French music from the early 20th century.
